Thinking About Death.
Any good marketer knows, or should know, that triggers are one of the best ways to market your brand. Whether those triggers be a color like “Tiffany” blue, the Geico gecko, or a holiday.
Dia de los Muertos is today and Forest Lawn knowing this, created a free event around the holiday. This past Sunday they held an event in which they played the movie Coco, had face painting for kids, and had traditional Mariachi music and dancers to celebrate the day.
In doing so Forest Lawn is ensuring that they provide not only quality service for their audience, but also they won’t forget. There is a plethora of triggers for their audience when it comes down to it because of the movie being played, the face paint, the music and dancing, and even their own kids.
The music and dancing would serve as reminders during family parties or events where they may hear mariachi music especially because these common characteristics have potential to spark conversations about plans that could happen in the future at similar events at Forest Lawn. The same goes for the face painting because seeing their children with face paint could also start that conversation as well.
The children who experience this event will remember they spent the Sunday prior to Dia de los Muertos at Forest Lawn as children and will tell stories of fond memories made on this day with their friends and family to their peers, to their teachers, and even their children. They will also serve as a reminder for their parents and other family members who may have the end of their life on their minds. In seeing that Forest Lawn treated their family so kindly during this event, they will tell their friends who are also thinking about their death. They would recognize the kind hospitality provided to them and when deciding where to physically go once they have died, they would think of Forest Lawn because they already know that they were kind to their family once before.
